Description: Thallus inapparent, lichenicolous on species of Porpidia. Apothecia arthonioid, emarginate, black, rounded, flat to convex, 0.1-0.35 mm across, usually immersed in the host thallus and arranged in small clusters. Proper margin poorly developed; epithecium dark brown to brown-black, K+ olive-green; hymenium pale brown, 40-55 μm high, I+ wine-red, K/I+ blue; paraphysoids 1.7-2.5 μm thick, the apical cells 4-6 μm wide, with a dark cap; hypothecium thin, medium to dark brown, K+ olive-green. Asci 6-8-spored, broadly clavate, semi-fissitunicate, with a large apical dome and a distinct ocular chamber, Arthonia-type. Ascospores 1-septate, hyaline, ellipsoid to cylindrical-obovoid, (13-)16-21(-24) x (5-)6-8(-10) μm, with a distinctly K/I+ blue epispore. Photobiont absent. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.
Note: a lichenicolous fungus growing on the thalli of Porpidia-species; never reported from Italy but known from Spain and to be looked for in Italy.
