Sagedia mastrucata (Wahlenb.) A. Nordin, Savić & Tibell
Mycologia, 102: 1346, 2010. Basionym: Lichen mastrucatus Wahlenb. - Fl. Lapp.: 413, 1812.
Synonyms: Aspicilia mastrucata (Wahlenb.) Th. Fr.; Aspicilia subreagens (H. Magn.) R. Sant.; Lecanora subreagens H. Magn.
Description: Thallus crustose, more or less clearly placodioid, episubstratic, firmly attached, areolate in central part, lobed at margins, pale to dark grey, forming up to 5 cm wide rosettes, the central areoles 0.5-1(-1.2) mm wide, convex to papillose, the marginal ones with subglobose to short-cylindrical, simple to sparingly branched isidia-like outgrowths. Apothecia lecanorine-aspicilioid, immersed, to 1 mm across, with a dark brown to black disc and a thin thalline margin. Epithecium olive-green, K+ emerald green; hymenium colourless, 80-100 µm high, I+ orange-brown; paraphyses branched, not moniliform, c. 1.5 µm thick at base, the apical cells up to 3 µm wide; hypothecium colourless, not underlain by an algal layer. Asci 8-spored, clavate, the thin outer coat K/I+ blue, the wall and the apical dome K/I-. Ascospores 1-celled, hyaline, ellipsoid, 16-27 x 8-15 µm. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: thallus K+ yellow turning red (needle-like ctystals), C-, KC-, P+ yellow-orange. Chemistry: norstictic and stictic acids.
