Distribution: N- Lomb (Nimis & al. 2018).
Description: Thallus crustose, brownish black, subgelatinous when wet, homoiomerous and paraplectenchymarous throughout, consisting of minute, mostly scattered, granulose areoles, which (in section) have a yellowish inner part. Apothecia sessile, apothecia arising between the areoles, at first concave and marginate, then flat and immarginate, with a reddish black disc and a thin thalline margin. Epithecium brownish; hymenium colourless, I+ blue-green turning red-brown; paraphyses simple or sparingly branched in upper part; hypothecium brownish. Asci 8-spored, subcylindrical, without apical amyloid structures. Ascospores 1-celled, hyaline, oblong-ellipsoid, 15-20 x 7-8 µm. Photobiont cyanobacterial, chroococcoid (Gloeocapsa), the cells single or clustered, surrounded by brownish gelatinous sheaths. Spot tests: all negative. Chemistry: no lichen substances.
Note: Described from material collected on siliceous nodules within limestone rocks in the surroundings of Como (Italy). The type material would be well worthy of further study.
