Distribution: N - VG (Tretiach 1995), Frl (Tretiach 1996).

Description: Thallus crustose, inconspicuous, reduced to small grey-green granules near the apothecia or covering the stems and leaflets of the moss Fissidens cristatum. Apothecia very small, 0.1-0.3 mm across, convex to globular at maturity, with a yellowish disc turning greenish white when wet, soon immarginate, the young apothecia completely covered in a thick layer of white pruina, which in old apothecia persists only at the margins. Epithecium pale brown, covered with crystals which dissolve in N and K; hymenium colourless, strongly K/I+ blue, c 50 µm high; paraphyses septate, simple or sparingly branched in upper part, sometimes anastomosing, the apical cells up to 5-6 µm wide; hypothecium colourless, of strongly conglutinated hyphae, overlaying a thick layer of algal cells. Asci 8-spored, small (30-40 µm long), with a K/I+ blue tholus and a central non-amyloid area, Bacidia-type. Ascospores (0-)1-septate, hyaline, narrowly ellipsoid, thin-walled 15-19 x 2-5 µm. Pycnidia not seen. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.

Note: a very inconspicuous lichen found on calcicolous bryophytes inside deciduous woods; to be looked for in other parts of submediterranean Italy.
