Distribution: N - Piem (Isocrono & al. 2004).
Description: Thallus crustose, episubstratic, yellowish to yellowish green, areolate; areoles convex, scattered to mostly contiguous, forming an uneven compact crust, often slightly elongate at margins, sometimes surrounded by a dark prothallus. Apothecia lecanorine, rounded, semi-immersed to subsessile, (0.5-)1-1.5 mm across, with an often faintly white-bluish-pruinose, olive-green disc turning blackish with age, and a persistent, mostly crenulate-undulate, smooth thalline margin. Epithecium yellowish brown, K+ blue-green; hymenium colourless, 55-80 μm high; paraphyses sparingly branched and anastomosing, 1.3-2 μm thick at mid-level, the apical cells up to 5 μm wide; hypothecium colourless. Asci 8-spored, broadly clavate, Lecanora-type. Ascospores 1-celled, hyaline, ellipsoid, 9-15 x (4.5-)6-9 μm. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: thallus K- or K+ faintly yellow, C-, KC-, P- or rarely P+ faintly yellow, UV-. Chemistry: atranorin (traces), psoromic and 2'-0-demethylpsoromic acid.Note: a probably circumpolar, arctic-alpine lichen found on mosses (e-g- Andreaea, Grimmia) and plant debris in sites with a long snow-covering period above treeline, in areas with siliceous substrata.
