Description: Thallus crustose, episubstratic, continuous to finely rimose, ochre-coloured. Apothecia lirelliform, prominent, black, epruinose, round, angular or elongate, with a thin proper margin. Proper exciple black, carbonaceous, extending below the hymenium and forming a kind of stipe; epithecium brownish; hymenium colourless; paraphyses thread-like, coherent. Asci 8 spored, narrowly clavate. Ascospores 3-septate, hyaline, fusiform, c. 3 times as long as wide, surrounded by a gelatinous perispore. Photobiont unknown, but probably trentepohlioid. Spot tests: unknown, but probably all negative. Chemistry: unknown, but probably without lichen substances.
