Distribution: N - TAA (Nascimbene & al. 2022).
Description: Thallus crustose, episubstratic, pale to dark grey or grey green, continuous or cracked. Perithecia black, but almost entirely covered by a thin thalline layer, 0.2-0.4 mm across. Involucrellum purplish brown (Pseudosagedia-violet pigment), K+ dark grey-brown, HCl+ red-purple to red-brown, of more or less uniform thickness; exciple dark throughout; hamathecium of mostly simple paraphyses; hymenial gel I-, K/I-. Asci 8-spored, clavate-cylindrical, thin-walled, functionally unitunicate, I-, K/I-. Ascospores 5-7-septate, hyaline or very pale green, fusiform, (18-)23-35(-40) x 6-9 μm. Photobiont trentepohlioid. Spot tests: thallus K-, C-, KC-, P-. Chemistry: thallus without lichen substances.Note: a poorly known species of shaded and humid surfaces of siliceous rocks near or above treeline, which needs further study.
