Perithecia black, flattened to (rarely) subglobose, 0.3-0.45 mm across, with a black involucrellum spreading laterally up to 0.7 mm, K-, the ostiole central, sometimes in a small papilla or hole. Exciple black throughout, entire, without crystals amongst the carbonaceous hyphae, c. 30 μm thick laterally; hymenial gel I+ orange (dextrinoid reaction), K/I+ yellow, without oil droplets or crystals; hamathecium of branched and anastomosed periphysoids, later substituted by more or less unbranched paraphyses; ostiole with periphyses.
