Description: Thallus crustose, episubstratic, rimose-areolate, dirty white to very pale grey-brown, often delimited by a black prothallus. Perithecia black, 0.2-0.4 mm across, largely immersed in the thallus. Involucrellum limited to the upper third of the perithecium, slightly diverging from exciple in the lowermost part; exciple dark throughout; hamathecium of periphyses and periphysoids, interascal filaments absent; hymenial gel I+ red (I+ blue at very low concentrations of I), K/I+ blue. Asci 8-spored, ellipsoid to clavate, I-, fissitunicate, the wall thickened above, with an ocular chamber, dehiscent by extrusion of a delicate rostrum. Ascospores (0-)1-septate, hyaline, ellipsoid with rounded ends, (17-)20-30 x 9-12 μm. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.Note: often considered as a synonym of T. zwackhii, this poorly known calcicolous species is accepted by Roux & coll. (2014).
