Description: Thallus crustose, 0.15-0.3 mm thick, growing on the thalli of Rusavskia elegans, consisting of elongated areoles whose shape corresponds more or less with that of the host thallus. Areoles grey-brown, more or less pruinose, flat to convex, irregularly folded, the margins concolorous with upper surface. Cortex 6-11 μm thick, of 1-3 layers of pale brown cells, covered with a discontinuous, 2-6 μm thick epinecral layer; medulla white, 60-220 μm thick, prosoplectenchymatous, I-. Perithecia black, 0.2-0.3 mm in diam., globose, entirely or ¾ immersed in the Thallus. Involucrellum absent; exciple paraplectenchymatous, 22-30 μm thick at base, colourless except around the ostiole; hymenium colourless, I+ reddish; hamathecium of periphyses along the ostiolar channel, pseudoparaphyses in upper part of the perithecium, and paraphyses disappearing early; periphysoids (10-)18-27 x 2-3.5 μm. Asci 8-spored, clavate, bitunicate, with a thin tholus reacting I-, Verrucaria-type. Ascospores 1-celled, hyaline, ellipsoid, 12-14 x 6-7 μm. Pycnidia rare, black, partially immersed, Dermatocarpon-type, the wall colourless except at the brown apex. Conidia simple, bacilliform, 3.5-5.5 x 1-1.5 μm. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.
Note: a lichenicolous lichen growing on the thalli of Rusavskia elegans; certainly more widespread in the Alps
