Description: Thallus not evident, not lichenized. Apothecia long-stalked, pin-like, 0.4-0.6 mm high, developing on bark with trentepohlioid algae. Stalk black (sometimes with a brownish tinge), 0.04-0.07 mm thick, the central part formed by pale, periclinally arranged hyphae, the outer part dark reddish brown, N+ intensifying reddish brown, formed by irregularly intertwined hyphae. Capitulum broadly obovoid, 0.2-0.3 mm across; mazaedium absent. Exciple reddish brown, 8-15 µm thick, of periclinally arranged but intertwined hyphae; epithecium reddish brown; hypothecium dark aeruginose green, obconical, 40-65 µm high. Asci 8-spored, cylindrical, with a thickened apex penetrated by a narrow canal, formed singly, persisting until the spores are mature. Ascospores 1-septate, brown, ellipsoid, 8-10 x 2.5-3.5 µm, with a smooth wall, the septum paler than the wall. Photobiont absent. Spot tests: ascocarps K+ yellowish brown, C-, KC-, P-; exciple, epithecium, and outer part of stalk N+ slowly reddish brown. Chemistry: without lichen substances, except an unidentified reddish pigment reacting N+ reddish and K+ yellowish brown.
