Description: Thallus crustose, very thinly episubstratic, whitish grey to pale green-grey, smooth to finely rimose, probably not lichenized. Apothecia black, often crowded, rounded to ellipsoid, up to 0.6 x 0.3 mm, with a slightly concave, epruinose disc and a thin, raised proper margin. Proper exciple thin, dark brown to black and carbonised, not extending below the hymenium; epithecium brownish; hymenium colourless; hypothecium pale yellowish brown. Asci 8-spored, elongate-clavate, thickened at apex and with an internal apical beak, K/I-. Ascospores 1-septate and constricted at septum, with unequal cells (one cell pointed and narrower, the other one not pointed and wider), at first hyaline but turning pale brown at maturity, ellipsoid, 10-17 x 5-7 μm. Photobiont absent. Spot tests: thallus K-, C-, KC-, P-. Chemistry: thallus without lichen substances.Note: on bark of deciduous trees and Abies in humid montane forests.
