Description: Thallus inapparent, not lichenized. Perithecia black, shiny, smooth, scattered singly, ellipsoid, 0.18-0.3 mm across, hemispherical to flattened, mammiform, surrounded by a dark fringe, with a central ostiole located in a small depression. Involucrellum greenish-black, c. 15-18 µm thick, extending beyond the perithecium in a long basal fringe composed of bark material mixed with green-black, smooth, thin- walled, c. 4-5.5 µm thick hyphae constricted at septa, reacting K/I+ reddish brown, forming a clypeus of elongated, radiating cells of textura intricata, becoming in places pseudoparenchymatous; exciple not differentiated; pseudoparaphyses c. 1.5-2 µm thick; hymenial gel I+ blue. Asci 8-spored, clavate, bi- and fissitunicate, with a rounded to truncate apex and biseriately arranged spores. Ascospores 1-septate, hyaline, fusiform with pointed apices, curved, (25-)30-38 x 3-4.5 µm. Photobiont absent. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.
Note: mostly on Prunus dulcis, but also on Olea and other trees.
