Distribution: N - Lig (Fryday & van den Boom 2019) .
Description: Thallus crustose, endosubstratic or thinly episubstratic, usually poorly evident, pale greenish, forming patches up to 5 cm in diam. Medulla I-. Apothecia lecideine, black, sessile and strongly constricted at base, 0.6-1.1 mm across, with a flat, matt disc and a slightly raised, shiny, usually persistent proper margin. Proper exciple well developed, c. 60-70 μm wide, cupular, continuous below the hypothecium, composed of parallel, radiating hyphae with brown extracellular granules; epithecium fuscous brown, the pigment sometimes extending down to the hymenium; hymenium colourless or partly brown-streaked, 55-65 μm high, paraphyses simple, 2-2.5 μm thick at base and apex, thinning somewhat (to c. 1.5–2 μm) at mid-level, the upper 10-25 μm fuscous brown; hypothecium dark brown. c. 100 μm high. Asci 8-spored, cylindrical, Porpidia-type, the amyloid tube not reaching all the way to the apex in immature asci. Ascospores 1-celled, hyaline, ellipsoid, (11-)14-16(-18) x 4-5.5 μm, without a perispore. Pycnidia rare, brown, 0.6-0.8 mm across, sometimes with a gaping ostiole. Conidia thread-like, curved, 14-16 x c. 0.5 μm. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: thallus K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV+ yellow. Chemistry: unknown. Note: A recently-described, Mediterranean-Atlantic species of more or less coastal, usually N-facing siliceous rocks.
