Description: Thallus crustose, very thinly episubstratic, continuous, smooth, grey-brown, with scattered, whitish, flat maculiform soralia, without a distinct prothallus. Apothecia black, lirelliform, simple to 3-furcate, straight to flexuose or slightly curved, sessile, the largest ones c. 1 x 0.1-0.2 mm, tapering towards the end, solitary or 2-3 confluent in radiating clusters, with a slit-like, epruinose disc and a black proper margin. Proper exciple thick, prosoplectenchymatous, dark brown, extending below the hymenium; epithecium grey-brown, K-; hymenium colourless, 70-80 µm high, not inspersed with oil droplets, I+ wine-red; paraphyses coherent, simple, thread-like, the apical cells not swollen; hypothecium dark brown. Asci 8-spored, oblong-ventricose, shortly stalked, thin-walled, with an apical thickening, 50-60 x 21-24 µm. Ascospores 1-septate. with equal cells. clearly constricted at septum, at first hyaline then turning brown, 13-15 x 6-8 µm, thin-walled. Photobiont trentepohlioid. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-. Chemistry: not known, probably without lichen substances.
