in Roux & Coll., Catalogue des Lichens et Champignons Lichénicoles de France Métropolitaine: 1313, 2014
Synonyms:
Distribution:
Description: Thallus crustose, thinly episubstratic or partly endosubstratic, pinkish white to yellowish white. Apothecia immersed in the thallus and partly in the rock, at first covered with a thin thalline, appearing perithecioid when young, the disc later expanded, black, surrounded by a black proper margin. Asci 8-spored, thin-walled, lacking an apical apparatus or tholus, the wall K/I+ blue. Ascospores submuriform, ellipsoid to broadly ovoid, (9-)10.5-13(-14) x (5.5-)6-8.5 μm, not halonate. Photobiont trentepohlioid. Spot tests: thallus K-, C-, KC-, P-. Chemistry: unknown, but probably without lichen substances.
Note: this calcicolous species has been recently described from the Maritime Alps of France, on steeply inclined dolomitic rocks at 1265 m (Roux & coll. 2014). It should be looked for also in Italy.
