Synonyms:
Distribution:
Description: Thallus crustose, endosubstratic or thinly episubstratic, whitish to brownish. Perithecia black, very small, largely immersed and slightly projecting only with the ostiolar region. Exciple carbonaceous. Asci 8-spored. Ascospores at first 1-septate, then 3(-5)-septate, at first hyaline, then turning brownish, dactyliform, 36-44 x 2-4 μm, with obtuse ends. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV-. Chemistry: unknown, probably without lichen substances.
Note: a very poorly understood calcicolous species, characterised by the dactyliform ascospores turning brown at maturity, only known from the Eastern Alps (Slovenia), in the montane belt, which most probably is quite unrelated to Thelidium. To be looked for in Italy.
