Distribution: N - Lomb (Jatta 1909-1911), Piem, Emil (Fariselli & al. 2020).
Description: Thallus crustose, episubstratic, white to pale grey, sometimes poorly visible, continuous and membranous to rimose or indistinctly areolate, sometimes farinose. Apothecia perithecioid, immersed in convex, 0.4-0.7(-1.5) mm wide, constricted thalline warts, 1-4(-6) per wart, 0.2-0.4 mm across, the disc punctiform, pale pinkish brown. Epithecium reddish brown, K-; hymenium and hypothecium colourless. Asci 4-spored, with thick, amyloid walls, Pertusaria-type. Ascospores 1-celled, hyaline but sometimes turning pale brown when overmature, ellipsoid, (35-)55-85 x (22-)30-40(-55) µm, with a smooth, 1-1.5 µm thick wall. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: thallus K- C-, KC+ pink (especially around the apothecia), P-, UV+ white. Chemistry: alectoronic and α-collatolic acids.
Note: on bark, but also on plant debris, more rarely on siliceous rocks in upland areas. The Italian records are rather dubious (see also Nimis 1993: 520).
Growth form: Crustose
Substrata: bark, soil, terricolous mosses, and plant debris
