Synonyms:
Distribution: N - Ven (Hafellner 2021).
Description: Thallus not evident, lichenicolous on the thalli of Rhizocarpon umbilicatum. Apothecia black, lecideine, round, 0.2-0.3 mm across, isolated or aggregated in small clusters, with a flat to convex disc and an initially slightly raised, then often excluded proper margin. Proper exciple brown, not carbonized, with radially arranged hyphae; epithecium olive-black, N+ purple, K+ olive-blue; hymenium colourless in upper part, golden yellow in lower part, 40-60 μm high, not inspersed with oil droplets; paraphyses sparingly branched and anastomosing, c. 2 μm thick at mid-level, the apical cells not or only slightly swollen; hypothecium pale golden yellow K+ purple slowly turning violet. Asci 8-spored, broadly cylindrical to slightly clavate, the K/I+ blue tholus penetrated by a faintly amyloid apical cushion with parallel or diverging flanks, the outer wall very thin, K/I-, surrounded by a K/I+ blue outer layer, Lecanora-type. Ascospores 1-celled, hyaline, narrowly ellipsoid, (10-)12-15 x 4-5(-5.5) μm. Photobiont absent. Spot tests: thallus K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV-. Chemistry: an unknown pigment in hypothecium.
Note: a species growing on the thalli of Rhizocarpon umbilicatum, mostly above the montane belt, widespread throughout the Alps (see Hafellner 2021).
