Synonyms: Lecaniella cyrtellina (Nyl.) S.Y. Kondr.; Lecidea cyrtellina (Nyl.) Lettau
Description: Thallus crustose, thinly episubstratic, smooth to slightly granular-verrucose, continuous to slightly rimose, whitish, yellowish white or greenish white, poorly delimited. Apothecia lecanorine at least when young, sessile, often clustered, 0.1-0.3(-0.5) mm across, with a soon convex, beige to pale orange-brown disc which is translucent and brown-mottled when moist, a soon excluded, thin, dull whitish to pale brown thalline margin, and a usually dark parathecial ring. Proper exciple thin, brownish; epithecium pale yellow; hymenium colourless, 30-40(-45) µm high, I+ blue turning reddish; paraphyses coherent, the apical cells 2.5-4.5 µm wide; hypothecium colourless. Asci 8-spored, clavate, with a K/I+ blue apical dome penetrated by a narrow, K/I- apical cushion surrounded by a narrow, deeply K/I+ blue zone, the wall K/I- but surrounded by an I+ red-brown, K/I+ blue outer layer, the ocular chamber relatively small, Biatora-type. Ascospores 1-celled to more rarely 1-septate, hyaline, narrowly ellipsoid, (8-)9-10(-12) x 2-3 µm. Pycnidia dark, immersed. Microconidia curved, 12-18 x c. 0.5 µm; macroconidia 0-1-septate, crescent-shaped, 10-15(-18) x 1.5-2 µm, without a gelatinous perispore. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: thallus K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.
