in McCune & al., Mycosphere, 9, 4: 868, 2018 . Basionym: Lecidea alpestris Sommerf. - K. Norske Vidensk. Skrifter, 2, 2: 54, 1825.
Synonyms: Lecidea stenotera (Nyl.) Nyl.
Description: Thallus crustose, episubstratic, whitish to ash-grey, areolate or granulose-verrucose, the areoles convex, up to 1 mm wide. Apothecia biatorine, black, adnate to sessile, often confluent, 0.4-1(-1.5) mm across (to 2.5 mm when apothecia confluent), with a soon convex, pruinose disc and an indistinct, soon excluded proper margin. Proper exciple thin, blue-green, of radiating hyphae, K-; epithecium bright blue-green, K-; hymenium colourless to weakly blue-green in upper part, 50-100 µm high, K-; paraphyses coherent, not thickened at apex; hypothecium thin, brown-orange tio orange red, K- or K+ intensifying. Asci 8-spored, clavate, with a well-developed K/I+ blue tholus containing a deeper K/I+ blue tube, without an ocular chamber, Psora-type. Ascospores 1-celled (rarely a few 1-septate), hyaline, narrowly ellipsoid, (13-)15-21(-25) x 2.5-4 µm. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: thallus K-, C-, KC-, P+ orange-red, UV-. Chemistry: thalllus with pannarin.
