Synonyms:
Description: Thallus leprose, cottony and powdery to granular, thick, whitish green to grey-green, diffuse or weakly delimited, firmly attached to the substratum, the margins delimited, but not forming true lobes (obscure sublobes sometimes present). Granules soredia-like, abundant, fine to coarse, up to 500 μm in diam., not well separated from each other, without projecting hyphae. Medulla present, well developed, white, forming a cottony layer which is sometimes exposed in patches. Hypothallus absent. Photobiont chlorococcoid, the cells 10-12 µm wide. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC- or KC+ faintly yellow, P-, UV-. Chemistry: usnic acid, zeorin, isousnic acid (traces), triterpenes.
