Synonyms: Celidiopsis insitiva (Körb.) A. Massal.
Description: Thallus inapparent, not lichenized, the hyphae developing within the thalli of species of the Lecanora subfusca-group. Apothecia arthonioid, emarginate but often surrounded by a collar deriving from the thallus of the host lichen, brown-black, rounded, with a rough surface. Proper exciple very poorly developed; epithecium brown, K-; hymenium colourless; paraphysoids distinctly swollen at apex; hypothecium brown. Asci 8-spored, broadly clavate to ovoid, semi-fissitunicate, with a large apical dome and a distinct ocular chamber, Arthonia-type. Ascospores 3-septate, at first hyaline but soon turning brown, ellipsoid, 10-12 x 6-8 μm. Photobiont absent. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.
