Description: Thallus crustose, endosubstratic to (rarely) thinly episubstratic but poorly evident, usually reduced to the thalline margin of apothecia. Apothecia lecanorine, sessile and constricted at base, 0.4-1.4 mm across, with a flat, smooth, greenish yellow to pale brown, epruinose or slightly pruinose disc and a more or less prominent, thick, usually smooth, entire or slightly crenate, white, bluish-white or yellowish thalline margin. Thalline exciple 70-170(-270) μm wide, corticate, the cortex obscured by granules insoluble in K, but soluble in N, 30-50 μm thick laterally, 50-70 μm thick
at base; proper exciple prosoplectenchymatous, 10-30 μm wide; epithecium colourless to yellowish brown, with coarse granules soluble in K but not in N, sometimes with an epipsamma insoluble in K, but soluble in N; hymenium colourless, 50-90 μm high; paraphyses simple or branched in upper part, not or slightly expanded at apex, easily made free in K; hypothecium colourless to yellowish, without granules. Asci (4-)8-spored, elongate-clavate, very thin-walled, with a K/I+ blue, tall tholus penetrated by a faintly amyloid apical cushion, the wall K/I-, surrounded by a K/I+ blue outer layer, Lecanora-type. Ascospores 1-celled, hyaline, ellipsoid 7-13 x 4.5-7.5 μm. Pycnidia rare, black. Conidia falcate-filiform, curved, 10-18 x c. 1 μm. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: thallus (apothecial margin) K- or K+ yellow, C– or C+ yellow, KC- or KC+ yellow, P-, UV- or UV+ yellow-orange. Chemistry: without lichen substances, or (yellowish specimens) with vinetorin (5-chloro-3-O-methylnorlichexanthone).
