in Poelt, Bestimmungsschl. eur. Flechten: 540, 1969.
Synonyms: Protoblastenia coniasis (A. Massal.) Poelt planta sed non nomen
Description: Thallus crustose, thinly episubstratic, 0.1-0.25 mm thick, smooth, continuous to finely rimose, rarely rimose-areolate, golden yellow to pale yellow. Apothecia biatorine, slightly immersed to sessile, not constricted at base, 0.5-1.4 mm across, with a convex, orange-brown disc, without a distinct proper margin. Proper exciple very thin, colourless to patchily pale orange, with parallel-radiating hyphae; epithecium orange-brown, 15-30 µm high, with granular crystals reacting K+ purple-red, N-; hymenium colourless to pale yellow, 60-100 µm high; paraphyses coherent, sparingly branched and anastomosing, 2-4 µm thick at mid-level, the apical cells slightly swollen, 3-4.5 µm wide; hypothecium colourless to patchily yellowish. Asci 8-spored, clavate, with a well-developed, amyloid tholus containing a more intensely amyloid, indistinct tube structure, without an ocular chamber, approximating the Porpidia- or Psora-types. Ascospores 1-celled, hyaline, ellipsoid, 10-13(-14.5) x 5.5-7 µm, without a distinct perispore. Spot tests: thallus and apothecia K+ purple-red, C-, KC-, P-. Chemistry: thallus and apothecia with anthraquinones, mainly parietin.
