Description: Thallus crustose, episubstratic, thin or evanescent, continuous or rimose, grey-white, dark grey, grey-brown to greenish grey, without a distinct prothallus. Apothecia lecanorine, sessile, 0.2-0.4 mm across, with a flat to slightly convex, dark brown to rarely black disc and a thin, entire, usually persistent thalline margin. Thalline exciple (30-)40-60(-70) µm thick laterally, indistinctly corticate, the cortex up to 15 µm thick; proper exciple colourless, 5(-10) µm thick laterally; epithecium dark brown, without an epipsamma, K-; hymenium colourless, 45-70(-85) high; paraphyses mostly simple, lax, (1.5-)1.8-2.5(-3) µm thick at mid-level, the apical cells 3-7.5 µm thick; hypothecium colourless to very pale brown, 15-40 µm high. Asci 8-spored, clavate, the K/I+ blue tholus penetrated by a faintly amyloid apical cushion with parallel or diverging flanks, the wall K/I-, surrounded by a K/I+ blue outer layer, Lecanora-type. Ascospores 1-septate, brown, ellipsoid, straight or curved, (10-)13-15(-16) x (4.5-)5-8 µm, Pachysporaria II-type, with a usually absent or poorly developed torus and ontogeny of type B (apical thickenings visible before the insertion of the septum). Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.
