Synonyms:
Description: Thallus crustose, endosubstratic or thinly episubstratic and forming minute brown specks, pale grey-brown to pale blue-grey. Perithecia black, 0.2-0.4 mm across, without involucrellum, immersed in pits in the rock, rarely slightly projecting when old. Exciple brown in outer part, paler in inner part, blackening near the ostiole; hymenium I+ reddish; hymenial algae oblong to narrowly oblong, 4-7 x 12 μm, 2-4 times as long as wide; hamathecium of periphyses and periphysoids, interascal filaments absent. Asci 8-spored, clavate, the wall thickened above, with an ocular chamber, after dehiscence with a delicate extruded endotunica, I-, K/I-, 80-90 x 35-40 µm. Ascospores muriform, with 8-12 transverse septa and 2-4 longiitudinal septa, usually hyaline, sometimes finally pale yellowish brown, ellipsoid, (20-)30-37(-40) x 12-17(-20) μm. Photobiont chlorococcoid (Stichococcus-like), present in both thallus and hymenium. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.
