Thelenella pertusariella (Nyl.) Vain.
Acta Soc. Fauna Fl. Fenn., 49, 2: 155, 1921. Basionym: Verrucaria pertusariella Nyl. - Flora, 47: 356, 1864.
Synonyms: Gyalidea fruticola M. Svenss. & G. Thor; Microglaena pertusariella (Nyl.) Norman; Phlyctis submuriformis H. Magn.
Description: Thallus crustose, endosubstratic to very thinly episubstratic, continuous to cracked or finely granular, whitish, pale greenish grey or yellowish brown. Perithecia 0.2-0.5 mm across, globose, discrete or more or less aggregated, three-quarters to fully immersed in thalline warts. Exciple pale brown near the ostiole, pale or colourless in lower part; paraphysoids persistent delicate, sparingly branched and/or anastomosing, 1-1.5 µm thick; hymenial gel I-, K/I-. Asci 8-spored, fissitunicate, with two functional wall-layers, the inner wall thin and the outer thick, with an ocular chamber, I-. Ascospores submuriform, with (5-)7-8(-10) transverse septa and a few longitudinal septa, usually slightly constricted at septa, hyaline, ellipsoid, (15-)20-35 x (5-)7-12 μm, the outer wall scarcely thicker than the septa. Photobiont chlorococcoid, the algal cells without a gelatinous sheath Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.
