Synonyms: Leptorhaphis epidermidis var. olivetorum Samp.; Limboria oleae (A. Massal.) Trevis.
Description: Thallus inapparent, doubtfully lichenized. Perithecia black, shiny, 0.2-0.3 mm across, circular to slightly ellipsoid in outline, at first immersed, then half-projecting, flattened, mammiform, dimidiate. Involucrellum dark brown to greenish black, c. 15-20 μm thick, not extending beyond the perithecium in a basal fringe, composed of pieces of bark intermixed with greenish-black hyphae; exciple not differentiated from the involucrellum; pseudoparaphyses 1.5-2 μm thick; hymenial gel I- or I+ yellow-orange. Asci 8-spored, cylindrical-clavate, bi- and fissitunicate, with a broad, truncate apical beak. Ascospores 3-5-septate, hyaline, fusiform, sometimes sigmoid, 30-40 x 3-4.5 μm, attenuated at apices. Photobiont absent. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.
