Description: Thallus crustose, effuse, thinly episubstratic, membranous or granulose, grey to yellowish grey. Apothecia lecideine, sessile, 0.5-1.1 mm across, red-brown to brown-black, with a concave to finally convex disc and a darker, raised, smooth, glossy, often flexuose, finally excluded proper margin. Proper exciple pale reddish brown in outer part to brown-black in inner part, K-; epithecium almost colourless to pale brown, with scattered blue-violet, K+ green granules which are often present also in the upper part of hymenium; hymenium colourless, amyloid, 60-85 µm high; paraphyses coherent, 1.3-1.7 µm thick, mostly simple, the apices gradually widening to 2.5 µm; hypothecium reddish brown, usually paler in lower part. Asci 8-spored, clavate, with a I+ blue tholus and an internal, darker I+ tubular structure, the external gel I+ faintly blue, Porpidia-type. Ascospores 1-celled (very rarely 1-septate), hyaline, narrowly ellipsoid (8-)9-14(-15) x 3-5(-6) µm, without a distinct gelatinous coat. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: thallus K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV+ white. Chemistry: without lichen substances.
