Polyblastia cupularis A. Massal. f. microcarpa Arnold

Synonyms: Polyblastia microcarpa (Arnold) Lettau
Description: Thallus crustose, endosubstratic, whitish to pale grey or pale grey brown, continuous, often poorly evident. Perithecia black, numerous, often arranged in rows, half immersed, forming moderately prominent, 0.2-0.4 mm wide projections, flask-shaped with a depressed apex and an often gaping ostiole, not covered by thallus. Involucrellum present, dimidiate, well-developed, clasping exciple and slightly spreading in lower part; hamathecium of periphyses and periphysoids, interascal filaments absent. Asci 8-spored, clavate, K/I-, fissitunicate, the wall thickened above, with an ocular chamber, dehiscent by extrusion of an endotunica to form a delicate rostrum. Ascospores muriform, with 6-7 oblique transverse septa and 2-3 longitudinal septa, hyaline to finally pale yellow, ellipsoid to broadly ellipsoid, (22-)26-36(-50) x (14-)20-25(-30) μm. Photobiont chlorococcoid. Spot tests: K-, C-, KC-, P-, UV-. Chemistry: without lichen substances.
